The gilded age is back — for fall at least. Newly minted “it-girl” of the industry, Solange Knowles took her seat at the Samantha Black Spring 2012 fashion show wearing a fun painterly silk shirt dress and heavy gold shoes. Would it be fair to assume that these were plucked out of the 25 birthday pair gifted to her by big sis Beyonce? We’ll probably never know. What I do know is that Solange is making a huge fall statement. Get into gold! Not mild and understated pewter or bronze–but loud, obnoxious, old gold. I love the way she paired them with an easy breezy dress. You can command the same attention with an all black ensemble allowing the gold shoes to do the talking or do so with a heavy hued maxi skirt, crop top, and moto jacket.
Choose any of these 5 picks below to get you started on your fall “goldrobe”.

Dear Fashion Gods, Was there something off in the mercury today? What in the powers that be allowed bubble gum raptress, Nicki Minaj to take her seat beside Vogue Editor, Anna Wintour at Carolina Herrera? Wait, before you even answer that question — what was Nicki doing there at all? Ok, Betsey Johnson, Charlotte Ronson, or Jeremy Scott I can totally understand, but how did you manage to nab an invite to a showing of Carolina Herrera? Of course, this was all the cunning work of some serious publicists, but why? I wouldn’t mind it so much if Nicki came and tried to blend in with the rest of the crowd, but she chose to show up in full on Gum Ball Machine Couture. I’m not mad, just a little confused.
For purely sh*ts and giggles (thank you internet Photoshop) someone took it upon themselves to imagine the unlikely pair in an alternative universe.
While every other designer is still on the loose and androgynous trend, Zac Posen marks his return to the New York market with a collections of body hugging silhouettes. I’m not the kind of girl to typically favor figure accentuating clothes, but this collection is simply beautiful. You can tell Posen really took into account a woman’s shape and wanted to bring back that spiciness and femininity to fashion. I can definitely picture a post-baby Beyonce, Kate Winslet or Renee Zellweger in one of these gowns or flirty flocks.

Per usual, Jason Wu received rave reviews for his Spring 2012 collection. Like collection’s past, the clothes were sharp, demure, colorful and sophisticated. Beaming front and center was Glee’s Lea Michele elegantly sporting a head to toe Wu look, which was hard not to fall in love with. Outfitted in a full black and white printed midi-skirt, a fitted black t-shirt, green leather clutch and red lips, Michele’s look was ideal for a mid-day Madison Avenue brunch. While this look may veer off too far into the old school, it definitely serves as inspiration for this fall. Check out how to get the look (for this day in age) below at a fraction of the price.
