Toni Francesc presented “Garuda”, for Fall 2011 during New York Fashion Week. So appropriate for the season, the designer used woodsy prints in shades of brown, ivory, burnt orange and cranberry to depict the feel of fall. Gold belts, dolman sleeves, mock necks and high cropped slim fit pant gave the collection a futuristic feel. Check out the video of the full runway show here.
Don’t you just love surprises? Way back in September, the amazingly indescribable design talent that is Tom Ford debuted his first women’s collection during New York Fashion Week. The presentation was all “hush-hush” with secret invites going out to only 100 editors and buyers collectively, (not even the supposed fashion top notches got an invite) and absolutely no pictures were allowed. With that said, words can’t even begin to describe how furious I was when I realized I would not be able to see Beyonce walk down the runway. (You can bet that walk was beyond mean.)
After years of being at the helm at Gucci and YSL we finally get to see an interpretation of fashion, strength and femininity through his own eye. Some of my favorite women were selected to walk in the show, including Beyonce, Liya Kebede, Joan Smalls, and Daphne Guinness. The images were finally released exclusively, shot by Terri Richardson by Harpers Bazaar UK.

Because I didn’t. New York Fashion Week is just like Christmas– it’s a holiday that comes every year the same time a year, and you really have to prepare for it. Needless to say, it crept up on me and I wasn’t really prepared. I wouldn’t say my fashion week was a total fail. I got to enjoy some of Fashion’s Night Out. Some being, hanging out on 5th Ave, failed attempt at getting into Bergdorf’s to catch a glimpse of The Olsens or Victoria Beckham, I did get to see Rosario Dawson at Bottego Venetta, ran into Claire from the Fashion Bomb, then I had to jet to work.

I was in my cozy little office chair by 7:30 forced to endure the torture of reading people’s tweets from the Ralph Lauren store where Janelle Monae performed, or how Kanye West and Chris Brown ambushed Soho. Sigh. I guess there’s always next year.
Later that evening I got out of work at midnight. I hit up my friend Mfeenz and we crashed a couple of parties going on. It was fun, but failed at providing that fashion flare I was seeking. I did score this fab Milani makeup bag filled with goodies inside.
The following days I had shows lined up, but missed 4 of them because of work and by Fashion Week’s end I just chalked it up to a lost. It’s not fun when you can’t compare collections, or spot trends, because you weren’t there to see it all.
Oh I did attend the Elise Overland show S/S which was pretty cool. Kelly Osborne, Brad Goreski (Rachel Zoe’s Assistant), and Nicky Hilton attended.

This was my only real show. It may me realized how much I miss being in the realm of fashion. The designers sent over a bunch of photos from the show (which you’ve probably seen on Style.com already), but I’ll post those soon.
The mantra for Adrienne Landau Fall 2010 should be fur has no limits. From fur hats to fur telephone covers, the designer showed that fur is still be very hot for the season. As I walked into the presentation space the song “diamonds are a girls best friend” played in the background. Viewing the program, a light bulb went off and I couldn’t help but to think that maybe furs and not diamonds are a girls best friend. From colored and crazy furs to more traditional blacks and grays—gorgeous slim fur vests, incredible Russian style hats, and perfect jackets. This collection had something for every fur lover. This fun show was the perfect way to end fashion week.
