Book Review: Commander In Chic By Mikki Taylor

One of my co-workers gave me a copy of Mikki Taylor’s, Commander In Chic, a chronicle and how-to of First Lady Michelle Obama’s style and I must say that it is a must read. When it comes to style books I am a tough critic. To me, so many fall into the category of dull, boring and duh! I already know the little black dress is a wardrobe staple, I know how to take a look from day-to-night and it’s often like, skip to the juice. From the first section, this book dove right into the style tea head on. I learned so much on how to look beautiful and be confident while doing so.

  • It’s uplifting, Mikki tells you that true style comes from within.
  • It’s informative, from her must-have makeup picks of everything from Bobbi Lipstick to MAC eye shadows, ┬áto the french fashion terms she uses, Mikki is the teacher who wants her style class to pass with flying colors.
  • It’s thorough. In the 224 pages, Mikki goes in-depth with Michelle Obama’s style. She breaks down every aspect of what it means to get dressed every morning as the most fashionable first lady ever, and how you can do the same. She also flurries each page with her cunning, Mikkisms.

You need this book. Mikki Taylor is a style veteran who’s worked as the Beauty and Cover Director at Essence Magazine for over 25 years. She prides herself on looking great, working hard and never settling for less. The book will be available November 29th, but you can pre-order it on Amazon now!

Has Halloween Come Early?

No that’s just Anna Dello Russo in the streets of Milan serving up her best Freaky Friday Jack-O-Lantern in Prada. Jellz.
