Marni For H&M to Debut March 2012

Marni for H&M  in Spring 2012? Why, yes please. A few weeks ago rumors swirled that H&M would be bringing back another round of Versace for Spring 2012, so I’m glad the chain decided to break up the heavy leather and electro-bright prints with a designer that’s more modern and conservative. A favorite of everyone from Anna Wintour to Alexa Chung, this collection is sure to bring a massive wave of excitement. Check out the video below of the grand announcement with commentary from Creative Director, Consuelo Castiglioni and Style.com’s Tim Blanks.

This Just In! Rihanna’s Debuting Her First Fashion Collection With Armani

Will it be smoking hot?

It was just a matter of time before the powerhouse made her way into the fashion arena. As the current body for Emporio Armani Underwear, Rihanna is collaborating with the fashion house to launch her first fashion line. The sketches and initial images nabbed by British Vogue, shows a more fan focused collection. Will these pieces be sold on her next tour? They definitely take on that 90’s vibe the pop star is on. Have a look at the collection below and let me know if you will be rocking Rihanna for Armani.

Let the Designer Collaborations Roll — Introducing Mary Katrantzou for Topshop

Photobucket #TeamIHopeTheseBrandCollabsNeverEnd ! Yes! Up next in the ever popular list of high fashion designers coming to retailers within my budget is Mary Katrantzou for Topshop. [insert squeal here] Let’s really give this all a minute to sink in. Since the designer hit the scene a few years ago, her duds have been the pieces to covet. I can guarantee the arrival of this collection will be met with long lines and the take down of Topshop’s site a la Missoni for Target. The London-based designer puts her all into the collections ever season. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but if bright prints and patterns call your name then this maybe the collection for you. Check out this sneak peek of the collection captured by Susie Bubble.

Giambattista Valli Comes To Macy’s!

Boy, the High Fashion Gods have showered us divas on a budget with countless blessings of grandeur lately. I mean, are we living in the twilight zone? First Missoni puts their nifty patterns on the shelves at Target, H&M for Versace drops next month, and now we have the sexy Italian fashion label, Giambattista Valli debuting an Impulse Collection for Macy’s *faints*.

I love Giambattista Valli! Whenever there is an award show, it goes with out saying that his pieces will be the show stoppers of the evening. While I’m loving the campaign starring Joan Smalls, Sasha Pivovarova, and Hanaa Ben Abdesslem, I was hoping for more form-fitting threads a la Kirsten Dunst’s Flare Magazine cover.  According to WWD the Giambattista Valli for Impulse collection ranges in price from $50 to $150 and will be sold in about 225 Macy’s stores nationwide and on macys.com on October 26th.

Book Review: Commander In Chic By Mikki Taylor

One of my co-workers gave me a copy of Mikki Taylor’s, Commander In Chic, a chronicle and how-to of First Lady Michelle Obama’s style and I must say that it is a must read. When it comes to style books I am a tough critic. To me, so many fall into the category of dull, boring and duh! I already know the little black dress is a wardrobe staple, I know how to take a look from day-to-night and it’s often like, skip to the juice. From the first section, this book dove right into the style tea head on. I learned so much on how to look beautiful and be confident while doing so.

  • It’s uplifting, Mikki tells you that true style comes from within.
  • It’s informative, from her must-have makeup picks of everything from Bobbi Lipstick to MAC eye shadows,  to the french fashion terms she uses, Mikki is the teacher who wants her style class to pass with flying colors.
  • It’s thorough. In the 224 pages, Mikki goes in-depth with Michelle Obama’s style. She breaks down every aspect of what it means to get dressed every morning as the most fashionable first lady ever, and how you can do the same. She also flurries each page with her cunning, Mikkisms.

You need this book. Mikki Taylor is a style veteran who’s worked as the Beauty and Cover Director at Essence Magazine for over 25 years. She prides herself on looking great, working hard and never settling for less. The book will be available November 29th, but you can pre-order it on Amazon now!
